My late grandfather reached millionaire status in his early forties. He drove around in a Mercedes back when credit wasn’t widespread and you had to “pay cash” for purchases, and a house could be sold for two apples, one banana and a pocket of raisins.
He started out as a clerk in a grocery store, then began an evening commercial cleaning business after his shift. After a few years, he had accumulated enough money to buy his own grocery store.
The grocery store became five grocery stores over time. When I see marketers today who think they’ve discovered the new magic formula for attracting customers by making a low ticket offer, self-liquidating offer, trip wire, whatever you want to call it… My grandfather used trip wires in his grocery store in the 70s and 80s.
He used to put eggs on special at the back of the store (he lost money on every sale) so that customers would be exposed to all the other products as they passed by to inflate their bill… This trick is as old as the hills…
..and when by misfortune ”certain customers” (we can’t call them customers) came SIMPLY to buy the product he was selling at a loss (low ticket) without anything else, he’d tell them right to their face to make them feel bad:
”You know we’ve got other things to sell, SIR”
He didn’t want customers like that and he made them feel it.
Fast forward today, a $100,000 salary can’t even afford a house for his family (probably just the plan with color images for the house). Most people live on credit or paycheck to paycheck.
And that’s okay, every era has its challenges and opportunities. There will always be, like when my grandfather remarried a young woman before he died, she inherited her entire fortune from my grandfather (sad, but true).
Nothing left for the family.
The best opportunity right now is the same as it was 20 years ago – and the same as it will be 20 years from now (In my opinion). Build a list, communicate with them, sell a product they need. It would be selfish of you NOT to sell a product that would fill their need.
And you can do this at night if you have a full-time job, four kids or whatever the reason, just like my grandfather, who had an evening cleaning business.

..and of course, there are some upsells later if you want to digg further ..which I hardly recommend since I̶̶ W̶̶I̶̶L̶̶L̶̶ M̶̶A̶̶K̶̶E̶̶ M̶̶O̶̶R̶̶E̶̶ M̶̶O̶̶O̶̶L̶̶A̶̶H̶̶H̶̶ A̶̶N̶̶D̶̶ C̶O̶U̶L̶D̶ A̶̶F̶̶F̶̶O̶̶R̶̶D̶̶ A̶̶ N̶̶E̶̶W̶̶ M̶̶E̶̶R̶̶C̶̶E̶̶D̶̶E̶̶S̶̶ (̶̶P̶̶A̶̶I̶̶D̶̶ C̶̶A̶̶S̶̶H̶̶H̶̶H̶̶)̶̶. Oups .. since it will help you!
P.S. Never marry a young woman just before dying if you care about your family.
