A few days ago, I read on a forum a guy mentioning that he counts in hours of life how much his purchases cost him:
For example, if he made $25 an hour and bought something for $50, he’d say it cost him 2 hours of life, not $50.
Although I like this way of thinking because it speaks in pictures, Yann Brainy says he’s wrong because his reasoning is very weak.
He thinks without leverage.
Here’s a better version.
Instead of thinking in hours of your life, you’re better off thinking in sales of digital products, such as an ebook. So, if you sell your ebook for $25 and buy something for $50, it hasn’t cost you $50, or two hours of your life, but two ebooks.
What’s the difference?
A world of difference.
No matter how many ebooks you sell in a day, there’s no notion of time involved, just writing an email or shooting a video.
Leverage.
So, a family trip? Before June 3: 400 ebooks. After June 3: 200 ebooks, because IP24 will soon go up to $50.
A dozen eggs in the U.S.? 1 book.
In Canada? it’s so nearly free that we throw them out the window… not because we want to… but because we can.
