Just a reminder…
I made it a personal challenge to find new sources of traffic for my online business. To do this, I had to comment 50 times a day on Reddit, Quora, or Medium for 30 days and see the results so I could share them with you.
The goal was the generate leads only. How much… that was the question.
I’ve come to the conclusion that I sincerely HATE Reddit. A bit of Quora and totally indifferent to Medium.
50 comments a day… ouff…
I was young and naive.
As for Reddit, there aren’t many quality posts to reply to in our niche… and those are for self-promotion or bots with publications written by ShutGPT… And as soon as there’s a link in our post, we’re either banned or the robot moderators delete our post…
IMO, if someone wants to do that, Facebook is better for it, plus you have the opportunity to get closer to the creator of the group to create a relationship and leverage it later.
I’m a leverage and relationship guy…
My main method of generating traffic comes from my current audience, who refer my newsletter to others because they like my emails. Each email is written by me with my words, my anecdotes and with my big fingers hitting the keyboard… like the old-fashioned way..because I value my relationship with my audience as the most precious thing.
I remember the Great Ken McCarthy saying that every week he would go to the bank with his printed email list and put it in a safe-deposit box, because his list was his main revenue. This action reminded him of the importance of paying attention to his list and audience.
And as I’m always transparent with you, I could have kept quiet about it or invented that my challenge was a VERY big success… but it’s not.
For me, this method doesn’t work because I have to have fun doing it, it has to have leverage, and create links. The three ingredients weren’t there.
I’m still finding other alternatives that might be interesting… after all, the greatest inventions began with mistakes.
