Yesterday we celebrated my son Tommy’s 3rd birthday,
We invited the whole family to go bowling, then paid everyone’s bill at the restaurant. These are things we do sometimes because I can afford it because of the power of Internet.
One of the gifts Tommy received from my father, Danielo, was two field hockey nets with sticks. After all, he didn’t live his dream of playing in the NHL with me, so he’s moving on to the next generation. I stopped playing field hockey when I was 4. Imagine his disappointment xD.
So, today we’re spending the day outside playing field hockey and in the meantime, I’m taking a break and reading some old Gary Halbert ”The Prince Of Print” newsletter.
So I open the page I’m on and read:
How to mail up to 100,000 letters per week at no cost whatoever! (Not even postage)
Interesting.
The principle is simple: you contact 10 companies that are not competing, but complement each other, and talk to them about “co-reg”. You divide the total bill for mailing 100,000 letters into 9, so it’s free for you.
Congratz, you’ve just offset your ad cost.
In advertising as such, companies will choose the “I know nothing about advertising” option and make a colorful ad that looks… like an ad. Some web agencies are even very creative for their ads, but are absolutely worthless when it comes to generating sales…
Niet. No bueno.
We’re going to do things differently.
When everyone else goes with color, we go with black and white.
When others go with images, we go with text only.
Ugliness stands out in a world of beauty. Don’t forget that. At first, you need to be seen.
Here’s an example of wut he would do in his ad:
”How to promote your business for less than 1,000$! Exciting FREE recorded message by world’s best copywriter reveals amazing secret! Call 24 hours per day. 000-000-000”

A recorded message… (this was before the internet and social medias)…
A recorded message takes all the stress off the caller, who doesn’t want to be pressured by a salesperson.
Then, on the recorded message, you deliver the promise and give a call to action if they want more. So, you get only hyperqualified leads to your business.
If you put your glasses on today on social media, you can still see this thing working. The tools are different, but the principles remain the same and will stay the same, even when your body is dust.
This is only part of a very strong principle that I don’t give away for free to my email list. I make people pay for those who want to improve.
