Last week, I received an email from a well-known marketer for whom I had great respect… until now…
(I can’t reveal his name because it will harm his reputation..)
He was exploiting his 8-year-old son to write an advertisement about robot toilet ads. I’m aware that some countries and companies can exploit children to make manufacturing products sold around the world, but advertising… it’s the first time I’ve seen it.
So I start reading the ad:
”New Toilet cleaning Robot**
“NEW ADD!Toilet cleaning robot!$1OOO!It will clean your toilet no matter how dirty. It will be your own bathroom/toilet cleanning robot/slave and listen to all your commands! You can even give your robot a nickname so when you say its nickname it will automatically zoom over to you!Plus,it also knows how to make delicious cupcakes that look like toilets(They look like toilets, but they aren’t.They are actually marshmallows with a colour of your choice! On top of the marshmallow there is some sprinkles.Inside the marshmallow there is some juice of your choice! Also, the robot doesn’t need batterys or charging! You can also toilet games on its screen!END OF ADD.”
Ok.. better than your favorite AI tool, BUT..
No clear CTA.
..And I start thinking out loud:
..What if this well-known marketer has insider information just like the White house has about some… humm never mind.
..What if EVERYBODY was wrong..
..they think the next big wave is AI, but in fact.. it’s
THE TOILET CLEANING ROBOT MARKET!!
I looked up the total toilet market value on the Internet, how much it’s worth:
”The global market for conventional toilets, also known as traditional toilets, is valued at around US$10.24 billion in 2025, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 12.8% forecast to 2033”
(Why 2033…no idea..)
I KNEW he had privileged information!!
Marketing was just a front for him.
Although my work ethic is undeniable, and I wouldn’t exploit my children for it, I had a stroke of genius.
”Hey Maggy! (my daughter)”
”What, Dad?” – replies naively.
“I’ve got an idea for a game, a father-daughter activity; you’re going to write a text to sell a toilet cleaning robot for 1000$”.
And here’s the ad game of my daughter:
”A new and original self-washing toilet costing $1,000. Her name is Theo”
Ahh..crap.. no CTA.. no AIDA..
I need to show how to sell so she won’t be an unpaid hairdresser like she wants.
And that’s what I am going to do!
Guess who is this well-known marketer?
